Adrien Jean le Mayeur de Merpres (1880-1958) Belgian (resided Bali), Two Balinese dancers, signed bottom left, charcoal, pastel and body colour, 62 x 47 cm, in a contemporary carved hardwood frame and glazed, frame 69.5 x 54 cm

Sold for £5,000

Condition Report

Painting remains sealed inside the frame, but a small inspection suggests work painted on thin paper and not glued to a mount. Significant water marks to the top right and down the left side. Some other apparently washed-out areas. Evidence of some tears around the edge of the paper. Also signs of some previous creases in the paper. Work is not dated. Handed down to the vendor by his grandfather.
