One of the greatest horological innovations of the late 1970s was Audemars Piguet's release of the world's thinnest self-winding perpetual calendar wristwatch in 1978. The Ultra-thin Calibre 2120/2800 came at a time when the world was facing the 'quartz' crisis and Audemars were repositioning themselves as a complication and ultra-luxury watch manufacturer.
