In the manner of George Jacob; a Louis XVI style finely carved wood and gilt gesso fauteuil, late 19th century, with tied acanthus frames, pineapple finials and arched floral cresting above stuff over back and broad bow-fronted seat with carved guilloche rail, supported by spiral turned tapering legs. 71 cm wide x 67 cm deep x 107 cm overall height, 46 cm height to the seat top.
The inner seat frame is stencilled MDIII and bears a circular paper household label.

Of private source.

The frame is sound with no undue flex, the gesso surface has the usual slight bruises and chips expected with old gilt chairs

No signs of woodworm.

the upholstery on the arm pads is threadbare but the seat and back are good but would benefit from a clean.
