Frédéric Charles Victor de Vernon (1858-1912) was a celebrated French sculptor and medallist. He was educated at École des beaux-arts and won the Grand Prix de Rome in the engraving category in 1887, he then spent a three-year residency at Villa Medici. His pieces were featured in numerous exhibitions in the Paris Salon, and eventually named Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1900.
