Follower of Vera Mukhina,  an early 20th century bronze group of a father teaching his son archery, in the Soviet Russian modernist style. Apparently unsigned. Height : 55cm Vera Mukina (1899-1953) was a prominent Soviet sculptor who won the Stalin Prize on five seperate occasions. Her most celebrated piece 'Worker and Kolkhoz Woman' - the world's first welded sculpture - was the Soviet pavilion's crowning feature at the Paris 1937 International Exhibition. Although unsigned, this bronze offered by Dawson's bears several stylistic resemblances to Mukina's work depicting laborers and sportsmen in the Art Deco style.  Provenance: Iconastas Gallery, Piccadilly Arcade, St. James's, London.
