Louis Armstrong was also known by his nicknames, ‘Satchmo’, ‘Satch’ and ‘Pops’. in 1935 he was managed and represented by Joe Glaser, following Glaser’s series of irregular jobs as fight promoter and club manager. The success of their association led other jazz musicians to join the management agency Associated Booking Corporation, formed in the early 1940s by Glaser and Armstrong.
