It is expected that this year will see considerable and continued growth in the luxury watch market. Significant shortages at authorised dealers will surely lead to skyrocketing prices on the pre-owned markets.

Rising demand and continued scarcity mean Cartier will remain one of the most sought after brands in 2022.

Do Cartier watches hold their value?

Cartier watches are essentially a commodity - they do not merely hold their worth; they increase in value, much like gold or silver. Cartier watches are resold at a premium price at auction, due to high demand and rarity. They are essentially part of a rich history of vintage timepieces - a legacy that will last a lifetime.

Amongst the global ranks of watch conoisseurs, Cartier watches are considered premium items, and highly collectable.

Cartier's prestigious history as a jewellery designer guarantees that the best grade precious metals have been used in order to create their watches. Cartier also has its own high-tech watchmaking laboratory, which ensures that only the highest-quality timepieces with the utmost precision are created within.

Many people think of Cartier as a fashion brand, but the company has a long and rich heritage in watchmaking.

Any prospective buyer can be confident that they will be investing in the highest quality watch when buying a Cartier; both in terms of technology and also the materials utilised.

Sold at Dawsons for £1,550.

If you're familiar with the history of Cartier's Santos series, you'll know that it was the world's first wristwatch. Prior to it's creation and for ease of use, people often used to strap their pocket timepieces to their wrists!

The background behind Cartier's Santos series is fascinating. Louis Cartier, the founder of Cartier, created a wristwatch in 1904 for his good friend Alberto Santos-Dumont. Alberto was a pilot who wanted a watch that would allow him to check the time without taking his hands off the controls of the plane.

A few years later, Cartier began producing this sort of wristwatch under the name 'Santos,' which we now recognise as their classic square faced watch. Cartier have made hundreds of modifications to the Santos collection over the years, right up to the present day.
