Dawsons welcome James Lees to our team of expert Valuers

Dawsons Auctioneers are delighted to have appointed James Lees as a General Valuer.

From an early age, James accompanied his parents on buying trips around local auctions. By the age of 13, he was working at weekends and in his spare time for Walker Barnett & Hill, before going on to work full-time within furniture conservation.

After several years in the furniture conservation arena, he returned to the world of auctioneering; working on private collections and museum items.

James later worked for Gildings fine art auctioneers in Market Harborough, then with Heathcote-Ball until the sudden death of the company founder. Eventually, James went on to work for Holloways fine art auctioneers in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

James has a life-long passion for the auction world, joining the Dawsons team from Holloways - where he worked for almost 20 years. Over the course of his career, James has gained vast experience working with period furniture, as well as researching and accruing an array of knowledge on the staple items to be found in any fine art auction. He also has particular interest in the more esoteric items to be found at an auction house; including oriental carpets and rugs.
