December Fine Art, Antiques, Jewellery & Silver sale highlights

Christmas came early for a number of lucky buyers at our final auction of the year!

This was Dawsons' largest sale of 2021 featuring over 850 lots, and here we have selected a few of the wonderful items that were sold on the 16th December.

Our last auction this year was a combined Fine Art, Jewellery, Watches & Silver sale and featured some truly beautiful items, with many of those purchased sure to end up under a Christmas tree or two across the globe.

We wanted to share some of our favourites with you, and have selected a few highlights...

This gorgeous gentleman's 18ct yellow gold Longines Flyback chronograph wristwatch caused quite a stir amongst our bidders, and a bidding war ensued between mulitple telephone bidders and online. After a frenetic battle, the watch eventually sold for an impressive £18,500. A model from the 1940s, with a cream dial and two subsidiary dials, featuring baton and part Arabic numerals. It is a manual wind, with a leather strap and a gilt pin buckle.

Lot 739. An 18ct yellow gold Longines Flyback chronograph wristwatch. Sold £18,500

Another lot that proved extremely popular amongst online bidders across the world, was this wonderful antique white metal menorah. Possibly of Spanish origin, with urn and foliate design to the back. The lovely menorah is flanked by twill tall candlesticks, on a stepped base.

Lot 788. An antique white metal menorah. Sold £9,800

This beautiful diamond single-stone ring was purchased by one lucky customer, after fighting it out with a number of other bidders. The old brilliant-cut diamond ring proved extremely popular on the day.

Lot 335. A diamond single-stone ring. Sold £5,800

One of our favourite lots was this Jaques Staunton boxwood and ebony chess set, complete with its original carton-pierre box with label on underside. Including one of each colour knight and rook with red crown. The white king is also inscribed 'JAQUES LONDON'. This wonderful lot was also together with two further Staunton style chess sets in wooden boxes, and was extremely popular with bidders from all over the globe.

Lot 290. A Jaques Staunton boxwood and ebony chess set. Sold £4,600

This stunning 18ct gold cased minute repeater chronograph pocket watch was a highlight not to be missed. The lovely pocket watch has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer 0-60 chronograph scale, centre sweep chronograph hand and four subsidiary dials for day, date, month and seconds with moon phases. It has a jewelled top wind movement, plain case, with push and slide buttons to the band.

Lot 740. An 18ct gold cased minute repeater chronograph pocket watch. Sold £3,000

Another possible Christmas gift for someone very special... this gorgeous emerald and diamond pendant necklace was also a highlight from our final sale this year. Featruring a pear cut emerald, with a graduated round brilliant cut diamond surround, and two collet set diamonds above - simply stunning!
