Jewellery highlights from our Thursday 23rd September auction

We look at some of the day's jewellery highlights

Dawsons' September Jewellery, Silver & Watches auction produced excellent results for clients.

Grima was unquestionably the star of the show on the day, with eye-catching jewels that attracted bidders from around the globe...

 

A stunning Andrew Grima 18ct yellow gold pendant necklace, in the form of a naturalistic feather. This eye-catching piece is inset with lines of small round-cut diamonds, with a double pin fitting to the reverse. The piece came in its original leather pouch and sold for £7,700 after an intense few minutes of bidding.

The second Andrew Grima piece of the day was this beautiful 18ct yellow gold, diamond and rock crystal brooch. It features a ribbon-twist textured mount with ten round brilliant-cut diamonds and is suspended with a detachable rock crystal pendant. The smooth pear-shaped stone is set in a white gold mount inset with rows of brilliant-cut diamonds.

Next up from Grima was this impressive 18ct yellow gold, diamond, jade and opal pendant. The piece is of naturalistic design, and the carved Chinese jade plaque is carved with a mouse and foliate design. The lucky bidder who took this pendant home also received the original sketch of the design, drawn and signed by Andrew Grima, dated '87.

The final Andrew Grima lot of the day was this outstanding 18ct yellow gold, tourmaline, and diamond ring. The ring displays a regular mount set with a mixed emerald-cut green tourmaline and two brilliant-cut diamonds of approximately 0.12 carats. Featuring a textured effect to mount and shank, marked 'Grima 750' to interior.

Following on from the beautiful Grima jewellery pieces, this solitaire diamond ring was a definite showstopper. Featuring a round brilliant-cut diamond measuring approximately 3.20 carats, set in 18ct white gold, each shoulder set with three baguette-cut diamonds.

Next up was another show stopper! A single stone diamond ring with a brilliant-cut diamond in simple six claw mount above a plain platinum shank with tapered shoulders.

One of the final pieces to grace the stand on auction day was this Victorian diamond cluster brooch in the form of a six-petal open flowerhead. Each petal is set with a central graduated band of mixed old cut diamonds within curved graduated diamond borders, around a central old cushion cut single stone diamond.

Also worthy of mention from the sale was a Victorian diamond crescent brooch from the late 19th century, set with two rows of graduated old cut diamonds in cut down silver mounts to gold backing.
