Why not make it a wonderful start to the year by finding that special something to brighten your loved one’s January? Our first Jewellery, Watches & Silver auction of 2022 provides the perfect opportunity… We have a fantastic selection of beautiful items for your delectation.
As ever, many of these lovely items also have a story behind them. One such lot within our sale this month is a gorgeous necklace with an interesting past…
Way back in 1970, the Queen Elizabeth II Ocean liner was at the peak of its popularity cruising the seas of the world in ultimate luxury. The ship carried a few treasures that were sold during the journey. One of which was a coral necklace that had been purchased by a passenger on board. This necklace was originally crafted circa 1850 and has spent some of its life cruising the ocean in the ultimate bygone style, and it is now being brought to auction and looking for one lucky new owner.
This sale features a wonderful French gold mesh evening bag and a gold small mesh purse, which we are sure would look extremely elegant out on the town. The French mesh evening bag with a shaped frame is pierced and engraved with trailing flowers and leaves, whilst the 9ct gold mesh purse with a tassel fringe and plain angular frame.
Another highlight of this sale is a gorgeous French Art Deco platinum and multi gem Egyptian revival pendant. In the form of a tapering shaped-rectangular panel, this lovely pendant is centred with a kneeling deity (probably Isis) and is picked out with calibre rubies and emeralds within a pave set diamond surround and a calibre black onyx border; this suspending a ruby, emerald and diamond fringe, all hung from a surmount of similarly set articulated panels, the largest of which is centred with a lotus flower… Simply stunning!
As ever, watches form a large part of this auction, and we have an eye catching 18ct yellow gold Rolex with factory set Diamond bezel and Diamond indexes. This watch has a gold champagne dial on President bracelet with crown clasp. In addition, the watch comes with a Rolex red leather-bound note pad and Gold branded plated Parker pen.
Silver features prominently this month, and we have a Charles II silver footed porringer (London 1649) that is sure to draw the attention of many bidders with a penchant for silver. This porringer bears no maker's mark, with repeating oval reserves and twin-scroll handles, bearing the initials 'MB', on a spreading circular foot (also bearing a lion passant mark).
