Another successful Jewellery, Silver & Watches auction for Dawsons on the 19th of August has passed us by.
24/08/2021
Our first highlight is this interesting sterling silver and 18k yellow gold rectangular box by Gerald Benney, London, 1968. The box features a bark textured body with a hinged inset decorated with 18k gold bands and an interior lined in green leather.
We now take you to every dog lover’s favourite on the day, which was this late 19th-century German cast silver stirrup cup modelled as the head of a greyhound by E. Wollenweber. This excellent find left our auction house for £2,000 on the day.
The animal theme carried on throughout the sale with this pleasant pair of silver pheasants. Our third highlight features a pheasant cock and hen, each with import marks for Berthold Muller, 1910 & 1913. These two are naturalistically modelled, with the cock stretching his wings.
Silver trays usually feature frequently within the Jewellery, Silver & Watches sale. This Edwardian oval silver two handle tray was no exception. Featuring a reeded rim and pierced hand holds bearing a presentation inscription.
The last of our silver favourites within the Jewellery, Silver & Watches auction has to the part canteen of Lunt's "Eloquence" Sterling silver flatware and cutlery with loaded handles. Featuring 12 fish forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 dessert knives, 7 dessert spoons, 13 teaspoons, 1 sugar sifting spoon, 1 butter knife, 1 jam spoon, 1 date fork, 1 mustard spoon, housed in a white Bakelite canteen box.
