25/10/2021

October’s Fine Art & Antiques sale offers an incredible selection of wonderful items originating from many different eras, and we very much hope you will be able join us online on the 28th (starting at 9:30 BST).

Authentic music memorabilia is highly sought after by both fans and collectors across the world, especially when it relates to one of the greatest rock bands of all time! The team at Dawsons are incredibly excited to be taking to auction an original Rolling Stones promotional poster dating back to the early 1960s, just when Mick Jagger and the band were starting to make waves in the music industry.

The sale also includes a timeless Leica camera, perhaps one similar to this captured the Rolling Stones when they were performing at their peak? This particular camera is a Leica DBP Ernest Leitz GMBH Wetzlar M3 camera (no. 950807), with lens cap, and still in its original Leica leather case.

As ever Fine Art features prominently within our auction, and amongst other fine and contemporary paintings, we have a beautiful oil on canvas by Albert Ludovici (1852 – 1932), ‘two ladies at a piano’, which is signed and dated in a heavy gilt frame.

Furniture is always popular, and this lovely art nouveau table is certain to be popular amongst bidders within this October’s auction. In the manner of Emile Galle, this is an Art Nouveau circular walnut centre table. With tray moulded top and the frieze with inlaid maple leaf and landscape scenes. The wrythen curvilinear legs extending beyond the top and terminating in carved detail… truly lovely.

Clocks are a firm favourite amongst many. This fine and unusual 19th-century white marble, ivory and ormolu mantel clock, by Maple Co, Paris, is a beautiful example. The drum dial beside a seated figure in ivory, holding a pair of pipes and a serpent, the enamel dial bearing Roman and Arabic numerals, movement striking on a bell, seated on a shaped rectangular base, with beaded and scroll decoration, on four bun feet.

Throughout time, decorative art has been cherished internationally. This beautiful 16th century late Baroque (probably Southern German), limewood figure of a saint, which is dressed in flowing robes, and with original polychrome decoration, is sure to be popular among bidders.
