Looking to Understand Auction Fees Before Selling?

At Dawsons Auctioneers, we provide a clear and transparent fee structure, with no sale, no fee and no hidden charges.

Use our Seller Fees Calculator to estimate how much you could receive after commission, and learn exactly how our auction fees work.

No Sale, No Fee

At Dawsons, we pride ourselves on being honest and transparent. We only charge a fee if your item successfully sells at auction. If it doesn’t sell, you pay nothing.

All fees are agreed with you in advance, so you can consign with complete confidence.

Our Charges Explained

Firstly, to clarify you will only be charged a Fee if we successfully sell your item(s).

A standard Success Fee of 17.5% + Vat will apply, deducted from the sale proceeds.

Please note different terms apply if consigning a watch valued at £1,000 or more. Read our article outlining seller terms for watches to learn more.

Dawsons offer the following pre-sale activity and benefits when you consign:

  • Indemnity cover for loss or damage to the value of the lower estimate
  • Secure storage of your items
  • Detailed research and cataloguing to best inform potential buyers
  • High definition multiple images for marketing purposes

  • Pre-vetting of potential bidders, ensuring due diligence

There are NO hidden charges at Dawsons. You will not be charged an entry fee. The only fee to note is our Success Fee (excluding watches valued at £1,000+), which will only be applied if we successfully sell your items.

Yes, if an item was to sell at a hammer price of £2,500 our standard Success Fee would apply:

Consignment (Entry) Fee = Zero

Insurance / Marketing / Photography Fee = Zero

17.5% Standard Success Fee: £437.50 + VAT

The total fees payable would be £525 (inclusive of VAT), meaning you would receive £1,975 in sales proceeds within 30 days of the auction or sooner.

Our experts are open to negotiation on our standard Success Fee should we provide you with a valuation in excess of £5,000. All watches consigned at this price point will not be subject to any seller fees.
