The Mark XI IWC Pilots Watch was introduced in 1948 following the famed success of the WWII issued Mark X. The watch was never available to the public and was offered to RAF personnel and civilian pilots as an aviation tool, hence its 'Broad Arrow' insignia. Its reliability saw production of the model through to the early 1980s, making this particular example from the Mark XI's first year of production particularly rare.
