A George III lidded tankard; London 1777, mark overstruck but probably that of William Cripps. Tapering cylindrical with reeded bands to belly and skirt foot; domed, hinged cover and scrolled thumbpiece, the scroll handle with heart terminal, later chased and gilded with monogram engraved to vacant cartouche 21cm high, 26ozt.
