A pair of Chinese cloisonne enamel figural censers in the form of a pair of Chinese painted quail, Qing Dynasty, 18th/19th century with possibly later bases, their backs lifting free to reveal a hollow interior, standing upon a pierced cast and gilt base with splay feet. 11.5 cm long x 16.5 cm high.

Condition Report

Bird A.

The cover shows some slight roughness at the front and at the rear but it doesn't look like enamel loss, see the images

The head of this bird has a blunt impact mark above the bird's right eye, see the images.

The bird has a slight dent to its right breast but this has not caused a lot of damage to the enamel, see images.

Bird B.

Cover. Shows some possible historic restoration to the rear end of the cover, see the images

The body show slight roughness on the enamel in one small patch and this could be restoration but it has a glass like feel, it is near the opening and one above the left eyebrow of the bird.See images.

The birds beak is crumpled and its tongue s twisted but intact. See images.
