John Downman (1750-1824), two watercolour & chalk oval portraits, 'Lady Anne C. Smith' and Lady Elizabeth Lambart, 1786', both signed and dated, 19.2 cm x 15 cm, glazed in gilt frames.

Lady Anne Smith (d.1844) was the sister of the Duke of Wellington. Lady Elizabeth Lambart was the sister of Richard 7th Earl of Cavan. Labels verso state that both works were bought at 'the sale of Downman's studio effects at Llangollen after his death, by Gen. Sir Robert Cunliffe 4th Bart.'

Light signs of colour fading, but generally good.
