A group of four porcelain plates decorated by Yuri Petrochenkov each handpainted in a Mannerist manner with a nude muscular man on a gilt background posed as if falling through space, the back of each signed in Cyrillic or English 'Yury Petrochenkov' or 'Yuri Petrochenkov', 'St Petersburg', dated 2008, and titled. 27cm diam. (4) Provenance: Iconastas Gallery, London. Yuri Petrochenkov (b.1942) is known internationally for his dramatic and detailed painted porcelains, from plates to eggs, for which he has developed special painting techniques. He graduated from the Mukhina Institute of Industrial & Fine Arts in 1971 and initially produced paintings, drawings and engravings. He now tours and teaches, as well as selling his work.
