A 19th-century oval overpainted photographic portrait of a young Royal Navy officer, 'Worcester' to the cap emblem, unsigned oil on panel, mounted oval, image 29 cm x 24 cm in a gilt frame.

Condition Report

It has been suggested that this is an overpainted photograph. We have added some further images which may give credence to this. There is a very fine 20cm vertical surface scratch to the left of the sitter and a small nick directly below his wrist. There are two small surface scratches to the right of the ship's mast on the left of the picture.
