Awataguchi; a Japanese Wakizashi, Edo Period, probably 18th/19th century, the nakago bearing the mark for Awataguchi Fujiwara Tadatsuna, the curved blade with decorative (gunome) hamon, fitted a cord lashed tsuka with plum blossom menuki and mixed metal tsuba, lacquered, saya and decorative mixed metal kozuka. 47 cm length of blade, 55 cm total length without scabbard.

Condition Report
Some surface rust to the blade of the Wakizashi mostly confined to the mune area but extending a little way on either side in one area as far as the shinogi, the corrosion seams to be surface, I can not comment as to wether this could be polished out but I have taken extra extreme close ups and this should inform the prospective buyer's judgment,
The Ha shows some small/tiny undulation but I can't see any cracks leading into the hamon, these small dinks for want of a better term are not notches or nicks but are from impacts with a hard surface, again these are tiny but worth mentioning.
The kissaki seems to have been blunted at it tip by approx 2 or 3 mm
