Two Solomon Islands carved wood walking sticks, belonging to the late Tom Russell, CMG, CBE, former District Administrator in the Solomon Islands, comprising a carved ebony stick, carved with fish, dolphins, a snake, swordfish, a canoe, face mask and a crocodile, beneath a rounded grip above inlaid mother of pearl, a label reads ' Carved walking stick from Viru, Marcvo, Solomon Islands, presented when Acting High Commissioner 1972', 99.5cm, the other stick carved with two snakes forming the shaft below two face masks, inlaid mother of pearl and a rounded grip, 101cm. A memoir of the government service of Tom Russell titled ' I Have The Honour To Be', accompanies this lot.
