A rare pair of Arts & Crafts style chestnut single bed frames by Stanley Webb Davies the headboards and ends carved with geometric decoration and turned posts and legs with concealed castors. The first signed and dated SWD and Frank J Crossfield, 1930, internal 82 cm x 188 cm; outer 91 cm x 200 cm x headboard height 101 cm, with original metal sprung bed base. The second apparently unsigned, internal 94 cm x 195 cm; outer 103 cm x 209 cm x headboard height 101 cm, together with a period photograph of one of the beds and various ephemera from the SWD archive. (2) Provenance: The Stanley Webb Davies Collection. The same photograph accompanying these beds can be seen in SWD's photograph albums under design #202 held in the V&A Archives.
