Lot 134

Lot 134 - A rare 1960s-70s Italian Fornasetti Milano...

A rare 1960s-70s Italian Fornasetti Milano optical mirror designed by Piero Fornasetti, of circular form, with nine polished circular lenses, in a brass frame with pocket watch style suspension loop, with wooden back and circular Fornasetti paper label verso, 30cm diameter. According to "Fornasetti: The Complete Universe" (edited by Barnaba Fornasetti, Rizzoli, 2009) this was part of a series of mirrors inspired by a mirror in Fornasetti's villa in Varenna. The series was produced in two sizes, of which this is the smaller. They were often sold with a long velvet ribbon so they could be hung from a wall, or with differently coloured background glass around the nine mirrored lenses.

Sold for £1,500
