A set of nine Chinese export American armorial dinner plates, created in the late 18th century as part of a service for Elias Morgan, of Hartford, Connecticut, painted with the arms of Morgan and named, within a narrow blue enamel border, 25 cm diameter.

Condition Report

All plates are generally intact however they all have issues.

All with gilt rubbing to the rims. All armorials have gilt losses to varying degrees. All with rim chips, some of which are competently restored, others remain unrestored.

One plate has a Y shape hairline crack and a 5cm hairline crack on the cavetto rim, the rear of this plate has been oversprayed by a restorer.

One plate has a stained Y shaped crack on the rear, not visible on the front.

One plate has a 5cm hairline rim crack.

One plate has a 5cm long fine hairline glaze crack on the rear, not visible on the front.

One plate has a 1cm hairline rim crack.

One plate has two 3cm stained glaze cracks on the rear, not visible on the front.

One plate with a fine 8cm hairline glaze crack on the underside, not cisible on the front.
