Lot 173 - A 19th century or earlier Persian or Iranian...

A 19th century or earlier Persian or Iranian book of 52 hand drawn and painted erotic studies in lacquered painted covers, one decorated with a standing female nude, mirrored verso with a nude moustached male, (covers 30 x 20 cm) the detailed collection of images including couples and groups in a variety of positions and activities to include homoerotic scenes, in the style of the Kama Sutra, all around 16 x 9.5 cm, with brightly coloured paper and ink drawn borders, the last two images detailing surrealist scenes populated by figures and studies of male and female genitalia, before the back inner cover with hand written Arabic text, approximate translation 'Elfia Shelfia, This book was published when King Nassar el Dean Shah el Qajar was in power, 50 chapters'. 19 x 13 cm, together with a signed American appraisal dated April 5th 1990 by 'Joseph Holland of Colin D Brown, Fort Myers, Florida' valuing the book at over $25,000 with a copy of an appraisal at the same price by 'Mr Pourhadi, head of the Persian Study Division, Library of Congress'.
