Lot 18 - A unique contemporary French 'Focus' coffee...

A unique contemporary French 'Focus' coffee table designed and made by Dominique Imbert (b.1940), the curving bronze base with a patinated and textured surface and a rounded wooden foot, supporting a circular glass top, 120cm diameter, 22cm high. Dominique Imbert (b.1940) first studied literature and worked as an ethnologist and chef before turning to forging, welding, and sculpting metal in 1967 and founding Focus. He is best known for his innovative designs for fireplaces, and his work has been exhibited in the Museums of Contemporary Art in Bordeaux, Grenoble and Stockholm, and at the Guggenheim in New York. He has designed a fireplace for Lord Norman Foster and he has been nominated for and won many prizes and awards including in Italy, France, Germany and the UK. Condition report: a couple of chips to the edge of the glass table top.
