Lot 275

A 19th century Aesthetic period Royal Worcester reticulated perfume bottle in the manner of George Owen, with reticulated outer, liner and gilt, turquoise and iron red 'jewelling; decoration including panels with cherry blossoms, bamboo, and a raised gilt butterfly and crane in flight, the base with printed green factory mark with date mark '73' to base probably indicating 1873, lacking stopper, a few chips to the base, 13.5cm high.  It is possible that such gilding work might have been done by James Callowhill who along with his brother Thomas Scott Callowhill were noted gilders and decorators working at the Worcester factory at this time until they left to go to America in 1883.
