Lot 37

Lot 37 - A very rare and large Mdina Glass 'Sculpture',...

A very rare and large Mdina Glass 'Sculpture', designed and almost certainly made by Michael Harris c1970, the green, blue and ochre swirling body with silver chloride striations, unsigned, 24cm high x 30 cm wide. Sculptures were introduced by Harris partly to display the art of glassmaking to visitors to the new Mdina Glass studio on Malta in a very visual manner, and partly to produce unique artworks 'by the hand of the master'. Compared to other, more practical forms, very few were made. After Harris' departure from the studio in 1972, sizes became smaller, weights lighter, and forms less dramatic.

Sold for £350
