A fine suite of six 19th century Anglo-Indian colonial carved hardwood chairs two carvers and four chairs, all with intricately carved backs detailing fruiting and flowering foliage, each of the backs centred with a relief carved panel detailing various Hindu deities, the carvers with squared arms supported by detailed rearing coiled hooded cobras carved in the round as supports, the (seemingly original) felt-lined drop-in seats set above pierced scrolling foliate friezes, each supported by swept forelegs carved with elephant's masks (some with original in-set ivory tusks) above finely detailed paw feet, the carvers measuring 89 cm high, 56 cm wide, the chairs measuring 87 cm high, 52 cm wide.
