An early 1970s Czech Skrdlovice 'Unikat' vase pattern no.7212, designed by René Roubicek in 1972, the columnar body formed from three parts joined when hot in an incalmo-type process, comprised of a base in olive green, a central part in amber, and a colourless top part with tiny controlled internal bubbles, 28.5cm high. In the Skrdlovice pattern book, this form is marked with a 'U', which indicates that fewer than examples were ever made. As each is handblown, typically under the supervision of the designer, each piece is entirely unique. René Roubicek (1922-2018) is considered one of the founding forefathers of mid-century modern Czech glass design.
