Our most recent Jewellery, Silver & Watches sale was a hit with the bidders. Let's take a closer look at some of our favourite lots from the day.
Following our Jewellery, Silver & Watches sale on 18th November, we invite you to come and explore some of the beautiful lots from the day. There was undoubtedly a theme of watches and necklaces. Let's have a closer look at some of our favourites.
We begin with a series of various Rolex watches that took centre stage on the day. Here we have a beautiful Oyster Quartz Day-Date Rolex watch from 1986. This 18ct yellow gold timepiece features a gilded dial, baton indices, day date apertures, a fluted bezel in an 18ct yellow gold case with a band and hidden clasp.
Next in the series of exquisite Rolex watches, this 1984 Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust automatic wristwatch was set before the bidders. A keen favourite, and it is clear to see why. The watch features a purple dial with baton indices and date aperture, with fluted 18ct white gold bezel and stainless Jubilee bracelet.
This Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust automatic wristwatch from 1988 was quite a find. It features a white dial with Roman indices and date aperture, an engine-turned 18ct white gold bezel, and a stainless Jubilee bracelet. With only a small scuff and chip to the glass, which is more than reasonable for its age, we are confident that whoever took this beautiful watch home is very happy with their purchase.
A 1988 Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 16030 DateJust automatic wristwatch. Sold at Dawsons for £2,400.
We had the pleasure of auctioning off this Rolex Oyster Perpetual stainless steel automatic wristwatch from 1976, featuring a silvered dial with baton indices, a plain bezel in a stainless-steel case, on an Oyster bracelet.
A 1976 Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 stainless steel automatic wristwatch. Sold at Dawsons for £2,100.
Some may say we saved the best for last here in the watch favourites, but we will let you decide. We have a 1958 Rolex Air King Super Precision automatic stainless-steel wristwatch. With the centre seconds silvered dial with baton indices, in a stainless-steel case on a Gay Freres stainless steel bracelet.
As we begin to take you through our jewellery favourites from the day, we start with this fascinating Art Deco diamond and onyx drop pendant. This unusual piece features a tapered rectangular mount with an openwork design inset with calibre-cut onyx and round-cut diamonds.
The bidders really were spoiled for choice at this sale, with some of the finest items we have seen this month. Another favourite was the Edwardian opal and diamond fringe necklace and ear pendants. The beautiful diamond fringe necklace is claw set with fourteen oval cabouchon opals. The ear pendants are yellow metal set with five brilliant-cut diamonds above an oval cabouchon opal.
Up next, we had a beautiful late 19th-century French oval locket/pendant. Featuring one side grain set with old mine and old European cut diamonds within black enamel line detailing, with an ornate foliate scroll back, French eagle mark, to a modern 18ct yellow gold chain.
The pendant necklace theme continues with a stunning and quite unusual Russian pendant necklace. The asymmetrical design pendant is set with a synthetic colour change sapphire and pavé set diamonds. With a fancy link chain with diamond rubover set cylindrical spacer links, how could we not include this one in our favourites?
Last on our list, but certainly not least, we have this 18ct yellow gold necklace from Fope, Italy. This intriguing design features a central brilliant-cut diamond set of oval links. The diamond weighs 0.29 carats approximately, and the piece is stamped '750 Fope Italy'.
