Third draft, Screenplay by Dennis Potter, based on the novel by Martin Cruz Smith, 20 December, 1982, title-page numbered ‘22’ top right, with ownership name, ‘Mary’, in black marker pen and annotated in pencil by Script Supervisor, Mary Holdsworth, unbound, 133-pages on white sheets with pink and blue revision sheets, hole-punched, many with numbered index, extensively annotated in pencil and coloured pencil throughout, 21 x 30 cm; together with, a facsimile copy of a Signed reference written for Mary Holdsworth by British film Director, Michael Apted, a single-page headed ‘The Michael Apted Film Company Inc.,’, dated February 2, 1987, . . . ‘The script supervisor/director relationship is extremely important to the director . . . ‘; all within a buff card folder, with the film title written in black marker pen in Mary’s hand, 25 x 35.5cm overall.
Directed by Michael Apted (1941-1921) the film stars William Hurt, Lee Marvin and Joanna Pacula.
Moscow chief investigator, Arkady Renko (William Hurt) is called to a clearing near the Gorky Park ice rink, where three bodies, two men and one woman, have been discovered. Renko become anxious when the KGB led by Major Pribluda refuses to take over the investigation.
