Thomas Eyre Macklin (1867-1943) and William Irving (1866-1943), 'Arcadia', signed and dated 1911, collaborative oil on canvas, framed, 180 cm x 362 cm.

Both Macklin and Irving studied at the Newcastle School of Art under the pupilage of W. Cosen Way. Between 1895 and 1911 Macklin is thought to have returned to his native Newcastle, where Irving had also returned after further studies in Paris.

Condition Report

Size with frame 184.5 x 366 cm

Canvas re-lined and professionally restored. Re-touching throughout, especially in the trees far right, around the border and dresses throughout. Evidence of a repaired tear top centre and possibly repaired holes in other areas visible through UV. Craquelure throughout has been restored. Stretchers have been replaced.
