Lot 64

The Smiths: a handwritten and signed letter from Morrissey, to Mike Hinc, live booking agent for The Smiths (and also for Morrissey), the letter undated, but likely March 1985. It reads 'Dear Mike, Question: Is it possible to reserve one BOX per group member for Palace and RAH (for relatives etc)? I madly appreciate the help last week. Hope it hasn't left too much damage. Will we see you in Manchester this week? Morrissey'.

The Smiths played live at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, on 31st March 1985, and the Royal Albert Hall a week later on 6th April. The reverse side of this letter reads' Village Inn, Kensal Rise, towards Kilburn Lane', in pencil, but not apparently in Morrissey's hand.

Provenance:

From the personal collection of the late Mike Hinc, former booking agent at Rough Trade for Morrissey, The Smiths and others. The lot forms part of an extensive archive of related items on this sale, consigned by the family of Mike Hinc.

Sold for £1,900
