A late Elizabethan/James I lead bronze mortar, by Robert Orrell (Wigan, Lancashire), of narrow-rimmed form with twin handles, owners initials 'RWM' applied, 14 cm high x 22 cm wide.

Uneven rim and base, with the mortar not quite sitting flat. Pitting marks and scratches to the body.
