Within our upcoming Fine Art & Antiques sale on the 31st March, Dawsons Auctioneers are delighted to bring to auction a privately curated collection of fine and important European 17th, 18th and 19th century furniture. 

 

Attributed to Nicholas Sageot. A red Boule and engraved brass contre partie marquetry bureau Mazarin, Louis XIV late 17th early 18th century.

Estimate £20,000 - £30,000

 

Dawsons’ furniture expert, James Lees explains… “This really is an extremely exciting sale, with most of the items coming from the highly prestigious Ariane Dandois single owner auction conducted by Sotheby’s New York in 2007, with the remainder purchased for the vendors collection from selected sales of Sotheby’s, and Christie’s."

 

A pair of Neo-Gothic mahogany and beechwood throne armchairs, late 19th century, possibly Italian.

Estimate £8000 - £12,000

"Including pieces by and attributed to Nicolas Sageot, Pehr Gustaf Bylander, Town & Emanuel, Banting, France & Co, Jean-Baptiste Tilliard; Neo-Classical furniture from France, an important Louis XIV Boulle bureau mazarine, Sweden a selection of fine wall mirrors, Italy a pair of extremely rare and important 17thcentury figural Lacca A Mecca console tables also from Britain a fine pair of George III carved wood and gilt gesso chairs in the manner of Thomas Chippendale and a William IV “Buhl” Kneehole writing table.”

A pair of rare and unusual Italian painted Lacca a Mecca and faux marble console tables, probably Rome, late 17thcentury.
