Silver & Gold prices set records at Dawsons

Our latest Fine Art sale on the 28th of August included over 300 lots of Silver & Gold. Every item sold and at prices not seen for many years.

A local family consigned some ‘old gold jewellery’ and their silver collection that had been ‘wrapped in newspaper in the back of a wardrobe for 20 years’. It went on to net them over £10,000! Not bad for a ‘lockdown clearout’. Makes you think - what treasure do you have hidden away?

Lot 454 A consolidated canteen of silver flatware, 19th century and later, estimate £1500-£2000. Hammer £2500.

 

Lot 456 A mid-20th century four piece silver tea set, Sheffield 1959, by Viner's Ltd estimate £1500-£2000. Hammer £2400.

 

Lot 460 A pair of mid 20th century silver two-branch candlesticks, Sheffield 1963, by James Dixon and Sons estimate £150-£250. Hammer £580.
