Donald McIntyre (British, 1923-2009) was a painter recognised for his depictions of Scottish and Welsh landscapes and seascapes. Born in Leeds, McIntyre initially studied to become a dentist at the Glasgow Dnetal Hospital, whilst also taking night classes in art at the Glasgow School of Art. An open air (en plein-air) artist, McIntyre used bold colours to vividly capture the light and tone of his scenes, developing a style in the Scottish Colourist tradition. His style of painting architectural structures is often likened to that of figurative painter, David Park, opting to use simple blocks of colour in order to depict the architecture in his work.

Today, McIntyre's works can be found in the collections of the Llyfrgell Geneglaethol Cymru National Library of Wales, the American Embassy in London, the Newport Art Gallery, and the Williamson Art Gallery.
