Harry Potter: Hogwarts Acceptance Envelope -
Original Production prop envelope, as screen-used in the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Warner Bros., 2001),
marble effect envelope addressed to the front in green ink to “Mr H. Potter, the Cupboard under the Stairs, 4, Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey,” with printed red-paper Hogwarts seal pasted down and Hogwarts school emblem on reverse (please note the letter of introduction and a list of requirements from Professor McGonagall are not present inside)18.5 x 13.5cm.
In the scene, it is Harry Potter’s 11th birthday and letters begin to arrive inviting him to enrol at Hogwarts School of Witcraft and Wizardry, but the more Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia try to ignore them, more and more owls arrive, and hundreds of letters begin to fly around the room.
Provenance:
Gifted to the vendor by his uncle who is credited on the film and constructed the machine that fired the letters through the Dursleys’ Privet Drive letter box and down their chimney.
The vendor’s uncle film credits include, all the Harry Potter films, Saving Private Ryan (1998), Mission Impossible (1996), Indianna Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Aliens (1986), Labyrinth (1986), Superman (1978), Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and many others.
