Omar Bongo Ondimba (1935-2009) was the second president of Gabon and was in office for almost 42 years, from 1967 until his death in 2009.

One of the wealthiest heads of state in the world, Bongo commissioned a number of wristwatches featuring his portrait by the likes of Cartier, Hublot, Piaget, Van Cleef and Arpels and Chopard among luxury brands.
