Frame 53.5cm wide, 63.5cm high It is possible that this was painted by the American theatre and film actress Phoebe Foster (born Angeline Egar). The style of the portrait and of the sitter's hair and clothing indicate that it was painted during the 1950s, when Foster would have been in her 60s, some 30 years after her last Broadway and film roles.
