A large pair of Japanese Satsuma pottery double gourd vases, Meiji period, late 19th century, modelled with fierce dragons entwined around the bodies and painted with warring clans on the shoreline. below a brocaded neck and Shimazu mark, Bearing a character mark for Nishi (?) to the base. 45 cm high.

Condition Report

The vases have some of the dragons whiskers and horns missing, some rubbing to the gilt rims.
