Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) American jazz trumpeter and vocalist. Autographed black and white publicity photograph – Signed in green ink ‘Louis Armstrong’ and further signed ‘Satchmo’, with Joe Glaser’s management agency, Associated Booking Corp., printed lower right, 10 x 8 inches.
Louis Armstrong was also known by his nicknames, ‘Satchmo’, ‘Satch’ and ‘Pops’. in 1935 he was managed and represented by Joe Glaser, following Glaser’s series of irregular jobs as fight promoter and club manager. The success of their association led other jazz musicians to join the management agency Associated Booking Corporation, formed in the early 1940s by Glaser and Armstrong.
