Dawsons achieve fabulous results for clients

Fine Jewellery, Watches & Silver sale is a roaring success...

July saw Dawsons acheive stunning results for our clients at hammer within our Fine Jewellery, Watches & Silver auction

The team at Dawsons were extremely pleased to help our clients to achieve some truly wonderful sales results this past week. Indeed, there was great interest across the world in the array of jewellery, watches and silver that was available within the auction. Bidding proved extremely competitive both online and via the telephone in respect of most of the gorgeous lots that went under the hammer this July...

Including our star lot, which was an impressive antique collet-set diamond lavliere necklace, suspended with two old mine cut diamonds,  the chain set with mixed old round and cushion-cut diamonds, contained in its original box from Hamilton & Co., 202 Regent Street.

No Dawsons Fine Jewellery, Watches & Silver sale would be complete without a lovely watch or a beautiful item of silver or two! This auction was no exception...

Amongst many lovely silver items, a stunning George III Irish silver epergne was the star lot (principally Dublin 1779, probably John Laughlin); of shaped oval form, the central navette shaped basket with beaded rim, and shell, acanthus leaf and swag decoration; the oval frame with conforming decoration and laurel leaf swags between urn decorated cartouches. On four hoof feet with fruiting vine supports. Later branches and baskets of conforming design, Dublin 1795 - probably by John Shiels.

In terms of watches, this auction featured a rather special Rolex with an interesting back story. A 1972 Rolex GMT Master 'Pepsi' ref. 1675 stainless steel automatic wristwatch. Purchased new by the vendor in 1977 and owned by him since then, the watch has certainly led an exciting life. It has travelled extensively around the world from Brazil to the depths of Nigeria and even survived a mugging attempt!
