A rare Chinese Canton carved natural and stained ivory figural chess set, 19th century,
中国，广雕天然及染色象牙象棋一副，19世纪
the white side carved as a European King & Queen, the rooks carved with European style buildings, the red stained side carved as a Chinese Emperor and Empress, the rooks with oriental landscapes, the stems all carved with foliate knops and toungue carved circular bases, the white king 10.5cm, red king 9.5cm (but missing a piece from his headdress)

Condition Report
Some small losses and signs of repairs. One red Rook with age split. Two pieces of the white Queen ponytail have been off and glued back on. Other small faults but nothing overly significant or instantly obvious.
