A 19th century French enamel, emerald and diamond chatelain/strap, in the form of a swivel clasp suspending a short belcher-link chain to a rounded-rectangular panel suspending three cable-link chains and three graduated compressed-round panels at intervals, each panel set with a central round cabochon emerald within small panels of rose-cut diamonds and further emeralds at the cardinal points, the backs each engraved with florets within panels and some with the remains of black taille d'épargne borders, the central 28.0mm diameter panel also hung with a similarly stone-set watch key and a fob seal with a sard matrix with intaglio initials ‘RH’ conjoined on a scrolling ground, this approximately 29.0mm high overall, the strap approximately 23.75cm long overall, French eagle’s head poincon for 18ct, and maker’s marks ‘A (crossed swords) D' for André Diméo, approximately 51.4 grams gross.
