An unusual 20th-century, cast silver (unmarked) Momento Mori figure of a standing skeleton box with scythe in hand and contra hand raised in beckoning gesture, mounted on a disc base set with red stones, on rectangular coromandel box embellished with flying cherubs and opening to reveal a stone set silver and gold (?) mourning panel of plaited hair, supported on splayed feet. 13.5 cm wide x 22 cm overall height.

Robert was a noted London antique dealer for over 40 years. Robert started in the Silver departments in Garrards in London at the age of 15 and by the age of 20 he had risen to manage Brompton Gallery in Knightsbridge. Robert had a long and successful career within the antique trade and had a particular passion for Silver and antique Eccentricities, his passion and connoisseurship are reflected in his collection.
