A late 19th Century Russian trompe l'oeil silver casket box retailed by Ivan Khlebnikov. Of rounded rectangular form, the hinged cover with engraved and repossé work imitates a draped, fringed blanket over a simulated basket weave box. Articulated rope twist side handles and rope twist hinged closure to centre (lacking flange), on four squared bracket feet with gilded interior. Moscow marks, Russian 84 mark. Dated 1886.
