An 18ct gold split pearl and black enamel pillbox mourning ring, comprising a central split pearl grain-set within a lozenge shaped motif, surrounded by black enamel, the hinged central square section opening to reveal a vacant compartment, flanked by tapering black enamelled shoulders with similar lozenge motifs each to be grain-set with a split pearl (pearls deficient), leading to an 18ct gold ring shank engraved with the words ‘in memory of’, Birmingham 1879, size O, 4.5 grams.
